A magnificent 7 riders (David L, Stan, Mike’s E & L, Tom, Jonothan & me) gathered at the pier at the new (clement winter weather) time of 09:30. With cloudy skies & a modest southerly wind, it was agreed to go to Preston & the café at the Nursery.

The usual route to Sandwich then to Preston via the variably muddy/wet roads through Richborough, Goldstone, Ware & Elmstone. About halfway the overcast skies decided to deposit some heavy drizzle (see evidence in the video from my, fortunately, waterproof camera!

A pleasant half an hour or so was passed enjoying coffee/tea & a splendid slice of chocolate cake for me. We also admired the large, splendid 360 degree wood burning stove which was live.

Mike E made an early departure for a prior commitment. The rest left shortly afterwards to do the journey in reverse.
As I found out on the return journey, Jonothan also has some modest electrical assistance on his bike, so Mike L was the only fully human-powered cyclist today! Bravo, Mike & enjoy your skiing holiday!

A total of 32 miles for me – the last half-mile done under human power as my battery ran out, despite having it on a modest setting. It must be the older battery as Stan got back with only 1 bar used! (JP)
